Mona Kapoor, ex wife of producer Boney Kapoor, who is currently married to actress Sridevi, died in Mumbai at the Hinduja hospital due to multiple organ failure on Sunday.
She had been battling third stage multiple organ cancer for a long time and had put up a very brave front in the face of the disease.
She used to run a state of the art filming studio, Future Studio, and was very active on the social networking site, Twitter, tweeting under the handle @monakapoor3, up until 16 March from her hospital bed.
Kapoor is survived by her children, Arjun and Anshula Kapoor. Her children had sent out frantic blackberry broadcasts earlier this morning asking people to donate O+ blood for their mother's surgery at the Hinduja hospital scheduled for Monday, but the strong lady didn't make it.
Her son Arjun's debut film, Ishaqzaade alongside Parineeti Chopra which is produced by Yash Raj Films is up for release in May 2012.
The film industry is shocked at her demise given she had lived a tough life all through and the tragic fact that she passed away just before her sons debut.
Her funeral will be held at the Vile Parle (West) cremation ground on Monday at 10.30am.
